Golden Acorn and Outstanding Advocate Winners!
Liberty PTSA asked for nominees for these two very important volunteer awards and we received numerous nominations for our three recipients.
Golden Acorn Recipients
Leslie Kahler: Leslie has been involved in PTA for 12 years at three different schools. Half of those years she has been active in two school PTAs at the same time! Leslie has served as President, Vice President, Board Member at Large, Logowear coordinator, Senior Events chair, and so many more chair and board positions that I can’t list them all. Outside of PTA Leslie is the go-to volunteer for choir, musicals, drill team, soccer, and anywhere else help is needed. Leslie may not like it sometimes, but whenever people are looking for a volunteer someone says “Leslie will do it!”
Kimberly Montague: Even though Kimberly took a year off from all things PTA last year (except for being a member at two schools) we all knew that she would be back. Kimberly has been actively involved in PTA for 11 years at three different schools as committee chair, secretary, vice president, and president, served on the Issaquah PTA council, served on the Region 2 Service Delivery team, and was even the Region 2 director. Kimberly was on the WSPTA By-Laws committee and has been on every bond and levy committee for Issaquah since 2006. Outside of PTA Kimberly volunteers for two school choirs, the gymnastics team, booster club, and her church. Between volunteer commitments Kimberly is a much-loved substitute teacher. She is one of those people who will always be there when needed no matter what the need is.
Outstanding Advocate Recipient
Jill Summerfield: Jill has served as the Liberty PTSA Advocacy Representative for several years. During this time she has visited Olympia numerous times to advocate for students in the entire state. Jill is always looking out for what is best for our students and is willing to speak up when needed. She has participated in several district and state-wide advocacy opportunities including going to WSPTA Legislative Assembly and attending Focus Day in Olympia. Jill is also actively involved in Boy Scouts and advocates for them as well. When Jill is around you know she is speaking up for your kids.
