Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PTSA AND BOOSTER CLUB?

A: The PTSA supports students, parents and Liberty staff as they focus on academic and life-skill goals for the students. The Booster Club supports these same students but focuses on enriching the athletic programs, clubs and co-curricular activities at Liberty.

Q: WHAT IS THE FOCUS OF EACH ORGANIZATION? WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?

A: The PTSA primarily supports activities, events and items that occur or contribute to a student’s growth during the school day. The Booster Club supports the before and after school activities and athletics that enhance the high school experience for students. However, there is also overlap. Sometimes the school requests funds from both organizations to pay for larger events such as motivational speakers for athletics groups and ASB leaders. Q: HOW ARE FUNDS RAISED?

A: The Boosters raise funds with membership fees, direct donations, concession stand sales and spirit wear sales. The PTSA raises most of its funds through the Cash for Kids Campaign as well as corporate employee giving programs and matching funds. Individual classes also hold fundraisers, under the PTSA umbrella, specifically for funding senior events.

Q: DO MEMBERS HAVE TO ATTEND MEETINGS?

A: Both organizations encourage member participation at meetings, but it is not required. Most decisions are made during meetings, so through your attendance, you can help set policy and shape each organization.

Q: ARE MEMBERS REQUIRED TO VOLUNTEER?

A: Volunteering is not required. However, volunteers are needed for both organizations to be successful. The Booster Club needs lots of help with running concessions and selling spirit wear. The PTSA has various committees that require volunteers, especially for staff appreciation events and individual class fundraising.

Q: HOW CAN I HELP?

A: If you haven’t yet joined the PTSA or Booster Club, please do! If you are a member, please consider making a tax deductible donation to either organization. Your money, invested in these organizations, stays at Liberty High School supporting our kids and building a stronger community! New families are always welcome to GET INVOLVED - please consider volunteering or attend an upcoming meeting for either or both organizations.
