Hello Liberty Families,

As we wrap us the year, we would like to thank you for joining, volunteering and donating to support Liberty PTSA. We are so thankful to the Liberty community for making LHS an amazing place to learn.  Here are some of our accomplishments for the year:

•       Our incredible volunteer base provided over 100 volunteers to the school for Laptop Distribution, Textbook Check out, Textbook Check in, and Picture Day as well as other volunteer opportunities mentioned below.  Thanks to everyone who helped with these events!

•       Our Outreach program was able to keep the Counseling office stocked with food and personal care items for students and fulfilled numerous requests for clothing, haircuts, and other personal items to students in need thanks to your generous support.  Power Packs were picked up every couple of weeks and provided to families in need.  We participated in a multi-school Thanksgiving meal drive and helped provide dinners to over 80 families.  In addition, we held our annual "Homecoming Closet” and "Prom Closet" events where students could select free formal wear for Homecoming, Navy Ball, and Prom. We improved the program this year by allowing students to shop in private during FLEX, creating a safe environment to browse. And last but not least, organized a food drive with Key Club.  Thank you to our chair, Kristi Hammond, and ALL of our Angel Donors!

•       Our Board provided Enrichment Grants to support the Liberty PATS program and the Choir program.

•       Our Staff Appreciation Committee organized several luncheons for the staff as well as several events during Staff Appreciation Week in May. Thank you to our chair, KaseyAnn Morelli, and ALL who shopped, baked, cooked, donated and supported these events!

•       Our Class of 2024 Senior Events Committee led by Laila Collins, Erin Thacker, and Korista Smith Barney worked hard to make it a special year for our seniors! Senior events included the Senior Sunrise, Senior Breakfast, Night of Reflection evening, Senior Sunset, and the All Night Grad Party.  Special thanks to Kathleen Baillie, Lovenia Hardin Julie Hicks, Jenna Thoresen, Tanya Platt, Irasema Ruiz, and Stefanie Williamson who chaired these events. Thanks to all of the Class of 2024 corporate sponsors including Egger Orthodontics, Windermere Real Estate, Paroline & Associates, Turabi Rug Gallery, Laila J. Collins CPA, Newcastle Heated Storage, Hop In Grocery & Deli, Cascade Ski & Snowboard School, La Fuente, and all of the individual donors for helping to fund these events and make the All Night Grad Party as affordable as possible.

•       Our Advocacy Chair helped get a grant approved for Influence the Choice, was a voice to support nicotine prevention and restoring the state budget for education and cessation programs, was a judge for Art with Influence and submitted a proposal to WSPTA to prioritize legislation that would ban nicotine flavors in Washington State, in addition to participating in meetings, signing up for hot alerts through WSPTA and being a voice for our community. Thank you April Keim for all your time and energy!

•       Supported the National PTA Reflections art program last fall.  The theme was “I am Hopeful Because...”. We had eight students participate and four moved on to District Finalists.  Thank you to our chair, Jessica Anderson, and ALL students who shared their art with us!

•       Promoted the Community Service Cords program and had a table during lunches on the first Monday of the months from October to April 1.  We were able to award over 70 Community Service Cords to Seniors who completed 100 hours or more of community service during their high school years.  Thank you to our chair, Kim Wales, for your time and passion for this program!

•     Added a new position to our board, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).  Our new board member provided educational information for our members and was a voice that stretched our thinking; she supported clubs and specifically launching the new club Black Student Union and participated in Maywood’s Multicultural Night with BSU. Thank you Lovenia Hardin!

Additionally, Liberty PTSA helps fund the Issaquah PTSA Council ParentWiser Program which provides Parent Education seminars throughout the year. As a Liberty PTSA member, admission is free to all of these events!

Again, we appreciate all of your support of Liberty PTSA, and please remember to join or renew your membership, donate, and hopefully sign up for volunteer opportunities in August during the school Enrollment Verification process. To our graduating families - we wish you and your graduate the best of luck on your future endeavors!

Thank you to all our PTSA volunteers who served on the Board of Directors or as committee chairs  - Jennifer Rinker, Nicole Morgan, Dawn Carr, Stina Fluegge, Jessica Anderson, Korista Smith Barney, Laila Collins, Kristi Hammond, Lovenia Hardin, Kristi Isaacs, April Keim, KaseyAnn Morrelli, Elysa Piha, Erin Thacker, Kim Wales, as well as all of our other amazing volunteers!  If we missed anyone, we apologize. It takes a village, and you ALL make a difference!

Thank you & Go Patriots!
